First meeting with Dr. Trese
Dr. Trese examined Sidharth for the first time on Tuesday, December 6, 2005.
Based on the medical history and visual examination of the baby, Dr. Trese suspects that the detachment of retina could have been caused due to a combination of ROP (Retinopathy of Prematurity) and Septicemia or sepsis (infection of the bloodstream or the body caused by microorganisms such as bacteria).
As part of futher diagnosis, Dr. Trese suggested the following two tests:
- VEP (Visual Evoked Potential) on Thursday, December 8, 2005.
- Eye examination under anaesthesia on Friday, December 9, 2005.
- Give Dr. Trese a better picture of the current condition of baby Sidharth's eyes,
- Help him to determine if surgical intervention will help Sidharth to gain his vision, and
- Set realistic expectations of Sidharth's vision for the parents, if and when the surgery is performed.
