Latest doctor's visit

I asked Sridhar to summarize the doctor's visit and his opinions about baby Sidharth. Here is what he has to say:

Here is an update of the appointment we had with Dr. Trese today.

Dr. Trese examined Sidh and told us that there is no further bleeding and that Sidh's condition is improving. However, macula (it is the center part of the retina and the most important part that is responsible for light perception, vision, etc.) was badly damaged in both of Sidh's eyes on account of scar tissue and bleeding. Its position is not as doctors would have intended it to be, is what Dr. Trese told us. Sidh has a long way to go and it would take around 3 months for the blood under the retina to be absorbed. We are not sure as to when our next trip would be, but this is a definite question for Dr. Trese when we meet him on the 29th.
  • Here is what Dr. Trese / Dr. Joshi told us :
  • The eye shields should be on for another 1 week.
  • He can have his regular bath 1 week from now.
  • We need to continue 4 eye drops for several months. Only one of the 5 that Sidh is now being administered with, can be stopped from 26th Dec.
  • Regarding the follow ups in India, Dr. Joshi told us that doctors would typically examine the baby for bleeding, if any and for the pressure in the eye ball. (Dr. Trese might refer us to a doctor of his choice in India).
As of now, nothing can really be said about the actual vision that Sidh would have. We just have to wait and see how well things go on.

The next visit is due on 29th and there is a remote possibility that there could be yet another visit this trip. Dr. Trese advised us that we can plan our trip back to India on or after 8th Jan.
