Last trip to Beaumont Hospital

This is Sridhar's summary of their Hospital visit to Beaumont Hospital on December 29, 2005:

We visited the doctor today. This is our last visit to the hospital this trip. Here is what Dr. Trese told us.
  • Both the eyes are recovering well from the surgery. The right eye is doing good (better than the left). There was some light perception in the right eye, which the Dr. told, is a good sign.
  • There is still a lot of blood under the left eye's retina. It may take several months for it to get absorbed.
  • Regarding Sidh's vision, nothing can be told now. The kid has to grow old enough and communicate with us. In the mean time, he suggested that we, based on careful observation, can also judge to a large extent as to what his vision is like.
  • The eye shields can now be removed. We can bathe him (head bath) and water getting into the eye is no longer a problem now.
  • We need to continue the drops for another 3 months.
  • Dr. Trese will next examine the baby after 6 months. In the meantime, we need to follow up with a doctor in India every month.
We are planning to come down to CA. Madhu and Murali are working out on his. Shall let you know once we are thru. Planning to return back to India around 15th Jan.
